The biggest challenge in replicating this technology is that, unlike the confined and smaller venues of basketball or volleyball courts, CHALLENGE Taiwan's course spans the entire Taitung area, with total distances exceeding 400 kilometers across different categories. Capturing footage of every participant in such an expansive area significantly increases the technical difficulty.
To address this, Spot assisted CT in selecting surveillance cameras on the market, designing computers for remote control on each camera, allowing for remote monitoring, angle control, and ensuring proper operation. All footage and images were uploaded in real-time, with cameras positioned across the vast Taitung area. By integrating data from the event's chip timing system, Spot matched each participant's passing times at different checkpoints with the camera footage. Automated video editing was developed to create 6000 Highlights, all finalized after precise time alignment.
Customization allows for addressing the quality issues that come with automated video editing. We offer consumers a free preview of their videos, enabling them to request adjustments to the timeline if needed. This approach not only saves debugging time but also ensures customer satisfaction before purchase, minimizing refund requests.
In the future, there is ample room for improvement in execution, camera placement, and finish line angles. The goal is to deliver a complete Highlight to participants as soon as they cross the finish line, maximizing the immediate impact and encouraging impulse purchases.
